Day 1: Arrive in Hobart
Arrive at Hobart Airport and make your way to the Avis Car Rental desk, to collect your hire car for your Hobart, Strahan, Cradle Mountain and Freycinet short break. There will be a map in the car, or set your GPS (if booked) and head into the city to your hotel for this evening. Hobart is Tasmania’s capital city, set on the shores of the Derwent River.
Tasmania is an island of sensational scenery, take your time and enjoy it as you explore Hobart and the surrounding area. Visit Coal Valley Vineyards and enjoy as sample of fabulous cool-climate wines, discover the perfectly preserved Georgian village of Richmond. Enjoy the galleries and cafes in Salamanca Place and if you are here on a Saturday, the Salamanca Market is a must.
Enjoy dinner tonight in the Point Revolving Restaurant for a fantastic view of Hobart.
Today you take a journey into the World Heritage area – at Derwent Bridge, see the amazing wall, the history of the highlands carved in Huon pine. Stop at Lake Claire for a short walk along the shore, continue on to the picturesque west coast port of Strahan. Join the West Coast Wilderness Railway, experience the world’s best wilderness railway journey as you travel through spectacular rainforest gorges to Queenstown.

There’s plenty to explore in and around Strahan. Start today relaxing on the Gordon River Cruise, on the majestic Gordon River, the site of many historic battles for our convict heritage, original settlers and conservationists. The highly trained guides will help you enjoy the journey.
Tonight, before you head into town for dinner, enjoy The Ship that Never Was, a live professional theatre production telling the dramatic and hilarious true story of the Great Escape from Sarah Island.
Make an early start from Strahan for the journey to Cradle Mountain. Spend the day exploring the Cradle Mountain area – a scenic helicopter flight, a canoe tour on Dove Lake, Tasmanian Devils at Devils @ Cradle, relax at Calm Day Spa, Wilderness Gallery or an evening wildlife spotlight tour.
Day 6: Cradle Mountain to Freycinet via Launceston
Start early to drive through Launceston, Scottsdale and St Helens, to reach the East Coast, continue on towards Freycinet National Park.

This morning you experience the Wineglass to Wine Glass, an intimate, fully interpreted guided full-day signature experience. This will be a day of rich, varied and uniquely Tasmanian experiences. The day starts with an invigorating walk up to the Wineglass Bay lookout, where the views take in the Freycinet Peninsula and beyond. Descend to Wineglass Bay where your guide will highlight flora and fauna and immerse you in Aboriginal heritage and European history of the area. Next stop is Hazards beach where a banquet awaits you – local produce and wines, fantastic! Relax for the afternoon before you join the “Baudin” for a coastal cruise back to Freycinet Lodge.
This afternoon continue south, returning to Hobart.
